Indian Wells Fitness Challenge
Destination… Indian Wells. How many miles? 630 one way; 1,260 round trip. How many completed the challenge? Eight fitness motivated members. In 28 days, from February 11th to March 10th, these members averaged 23 minutes or more, of aerobic exercise per day, to meet the challenge. Of course, it was worth it to see Nadal capture the Men’s title and Hantuchova come out on top for the Women (even if we had to watch it on T.V.). The following members completed the round trip:

Karen Batchelder, Carol Jones and Glenna Akers. Randall Matoon, Sandy Jenkins, Ginny Wolf, Lionel Valley and Corky Schwabe completed the one way trip.
Stay tuned for our next challenge, which will be to the French Open!

February

Visiting Pro: Sandy Mayer
The Club hosted former #7 in the world tennis pro Sandy Mayer on the 18th of February. He offered private lessons throughout the day.

Australian Open Fitness Challenge Results
It was a long, hard trek, that spanned 18,000 miles, but eight of our members managed to accomplish the task. For 80 days, beginning Nov. 1st, they averaged 25 minutes per day of running, walking, biking, swimming or climbing, to get to Sydney, Australia. We applaud the following for their efforts:

Sheri Kushner, Ginny Wolf, Carol Jones, Ava Balbutin, Norna Ferrara, Sandy Jenkins, Cindy Ball & Corky Schwabe.

Join us for our next fitness challenge to The Pacific Life Championships in Indian Wells. The 700 mile trek begins on Feb. 11th and ends on March 10th. Average 25 minutes of aerobic exercise for 28 days and you’ll be there! Please record your own minutes on the chart in the weight room. Remember, any aerobic exercise counts, whether it’s indoor or out. Good Luck!
